How to build your countdown overlay

1. Pick a style & orientation

Choose Gothic, Blood or Candle flicker, then pick vertical (1080×1920) for Shorts/Stories or horizontal (1920×1080) for OBS.

2. Watch the live timer

The overlay automatically counts down to midnight on the next October 31 — it even rolls over to next year if Halloween has already passed.

3. Export & drop into OBS

Download the transparent PNG, add it as an Image Source in OBS/Streamlabs, and position it anywhere on your scene. No background, just the text.

Frequently asked questions

Is the exported PNG transparent?
Yes — the PNG is rendered on a fully transparent canvas, so it blends over any video, game feed or webcam layer in OBS. Only the countdown text and a small SpookyMedia.app corner mark are drawn.
Does the countdown update by itself across New Year?
Yes. The target is always the upcoming October 31 at 00:00 in your local timezone. If Halloween has already happened this year, the timer automatically points at next year's October 31.
Why is the exported image static while the preview flickers?
A PNG is a single still frame, so the live seconds and flicker animation cannot be baked in. Export at the moment you want, or record a screen capture of this page running live for an animated version in your stream.
Which tools can I use the overlay with?
Any streaming software that accepts image sources: OBS Studio, Streamlabs, Twitch Studio, vMix and XSplit. The 1920×1080 horizontal size is designed for a 16:9 stream canvas.
