How to plan your candy buy
1. Estimate traffic
Guess how many kids will knock — check last year or nearby busy streets.
2. Set pieces & factor
Most kids take 2–4 pieces; raise the backup factor on busy streets.
3. Shop to the budget
Pick a price tier and buy a little more than the total to be safe.
Frequently asked questions
What is a realistic number of trick-or-treaters?
Quiet suburban streets might see 30–80; busy family neighbourhoods can see 150–300. If you are unsure, start at 100 and nudge the backup factor up. Many houses also see older groups who take more.
How many pieces does each child take?
Plan for about 2–4 pieces per child. Toddlers take one, older kids and costumed groups often grab a handful, so 3 pieces is a safe planning average.
Are the budget prices exact?
No. The three tiers are planning reference points based on typical bulk candy pricing (2024–2025 US big-box stores), not live quotes. Actual prices vary by brand, region and store promotions.
